Sony Ericsson has finally announced the Xperia X2, a new Windows phone running Windows Mobile 6.5 and serving the combination between messaging and multimedia. The Xperia X2 includes a new SlideView feature, which provides quick access to frequently used phone activities. The new user interface provides easy interaction with your contacts, messages, media and more. SlideView also gives an overview of missed incoming activity, notifying the user of any missed calls, e-mails and text messages.
The X-panels have not left the show. The X2 has 14 specially designed preloaded Xperia panels and 16 more to download. Skype, Mytopia, Google, CNN and Windows Live panels are available within the phone which show up-to-date information. Sony Ericsson also improved the touch interface of the Windows UI and added a new 3D signature panel.
As we already knew the handset packs a QWERTY keyboard, TV out connection, a 3.2-inch high resolution touchscreen and 8.1 megapixel camera to capture photos and videos. Xperia X2 supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 850/900/2100. Other features are Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Windows Media player, build-in A-GPS receiver, Wi-Fi, Microsoft Office Mobile and all available Windows Mobile features such as ActiveSync and Exchange support.
Sony Ericsson has developed Xperia Services, an after sales package designed to help Xperia X2 users get the most out of their mobile phone. A specialised technical team is standing by to support busy users and talk them through the features the Xperia X2 has to offer. Even if your Xperia X2 stops working while you are abroad, Xperia Services will replace your mobile phone. Nice service and it is all included!
The Xperia X2 will be available in selected markets from early next quarter in the colours Elegant Black and Modern Silver. The following live pictures give a better view on the new Xperia family member. The guys at All About Phones got a first hands-on with the black version of the device and we received the pictures. Enjoy the closer look on the new Xperia X2.
