They Really Let This Into the App Store?

I was just Googling some iPhone apps, checking out what’s hot and what not, etc. Whilst looking for the next hot app I instead found a collection of apps that at best can be described as being awful and at worst are totally stupefying. Everyone has different tastes of course, but some of these really do make you wonder, not only what the devs behind them were thinking, but also what the people who buy them are thinking.

First we have iKissMe, quite possibly the saddest app in the app store. Billing itself as an app that allows you to practice your kissing skills or as a pick-me-up when you’re down it can’t help but exude charm and class … In all seriousness though who apart from socially inept teenage boys and maladjusted loners sitting in their underpants in the parent’s basement would even think of buying this? This is the sort of app that makes me shed a little tear.

We go from the pathetic to the disgusting, if a little funny. SoftServe Poop Machine contains a subtle clue in its title as to its purpose. Yes that’s right it does indeed allow you to create images of poo. There’s actually a fair bit of thought been put into this app with controls covering curvature, length and thickness. The devs obviously know their market as they have aimed this app foursquare at fans of fart apps and similar scatological fun.

Last, and most certainly least, is CalmCandle. To say that this app sounds completely pointless is to be a master of the art of understatement. If you enjoy watching candles slowly burn then by all means go light a candle and watch it because not only would that be more satisfying than this app, it would likely be a good deal cheaper too. Who the hell would pay $5 for a picture of a stuttering candle on a screen?! Maybe the sort of people who have found no solace in their iPhone kissing app and need an iPhone candle to calm down.
