The Nokia 2220 slide and the Nokia 2690, priced at 45 and 54 euros, also support email on the device through Ovi Mail. Ovi Mail accounts can be created on the device and people can start sending and receiving emails without ever needing a PC. Other device features include FM radio, VGA camera, GPRS and MMS support, phonebooks for up to 1,000 contacts, and Bluetooth. Standby times for the Nokia 2220 slide and Nokia 2690 are about 20 days and 13 days.

The first of the five new mobile phones will begin shipping before the end of 2009, with others expected to start shipping in the first half of 2010.

Sony Ericsson unveiled also some new applications called Mediascape and Timescape. Timescape manages all your communication with one person in one place. You will be able to browse through your conversations the bright way to check out your Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails, and texts all in one go. Mediascape is the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos you want from your favourite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere – your phone, YouTube, PlayNow – and presents everything for you.

The maker gave us an example of their services:

Pressing the new “infinite button” guides you through the connected world, aggregating all your interactions with one person into one view. Intelligent face recognition features recognise up to five faces in any picture, automatically connecting them with your social phonebook and all other related communications with that person.

The Xperia X10 supports GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 900/1700/2100 and UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900/2100 networks, has a 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, touchfocus, LED flash and high quality video recording. There is only a 262,144 colour TFT touchscreen of 4.0 inches using a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels (WVGA). Build-in A-GPS receiver together with Wisepilot serve the option of turn-by-turn navigation. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 (A2DP) are available for wireless connections.

The Google Android Donut, version 1.6 and 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor are key features of the device and will make sure you have the full Google Experience. It is unclear why Sony Ericsson didn’t state anything about version 2.0. We hope an upgrade is included when it goes on sale the beginning of next year.

Sony Ericsson is also introducing the new Wireless Stereo Headset with FM Radio – MW600. Featuring advanced Bluetooth technology and a built-in FM radio, MW600 lets you stream music to your headset in high fidelity through sound-enhancing ear-buds.

Mark Ollila, director of X-Media solutions, media and games at Nokia, explained to ME; “We are not releasing any more games on N-Gage, although the store – the ability to buy N-Gage games – will remain open until at least September 2010, and the N-Gage service will run through to the end of 2010. The message is that Ovi Store is the place to find and purchase mobile games. It’s our one-stop shop for games.”

The first with the navigation software will be available from the 6th of November. The software will only be available in the United States. Other countries will follow in the upcoming months.

We expect that the software is going to be available for other platforms during 2010. Symbian and Windows Mobile would be the next step. More information on the new package can be found here.

The handset runs Google Android covered by a S-class user interface. You will also a spot several new features inside phone such as a SNS manager (Social Networking Service) and a five-line keyboard lay-out.
